When Tracey from Lana Rose Fashion wanted to come on board as a stockist for our new collection I was so overjoyed!  Lana Rose hails from Ballarat, a gold mining town in Victoria, Australia that I grew up in as a kid so holds some dear memories for me and many of my extended family still live there.

Lana Rose Fashion are stocking our Sugar Rush collection and also have the pieces currently available for pre-order, so please support your local businesses and go buy some beautiful things for yourself from there!

We asked Tracey to answer some questions so we could get to know her team and her store a bit better :)

Tell us about the Lana-Rose Fashion Boutique, where are you located and how did you start?

Hi, I’m Tracey Spencer, owner operator of Lana-Rose Fashion in the historic city of Ballarat, Victoria.

Lana-Rose was established in September 2012.  The original store was in Buninyong (a suburb of Ballarat) and in 2016 we moved the store into Central Ballarat to a larger store that is smack centre of the historic buildings’ precinct.

I initially just opened a little dress store with one of the lines being Sourpuss as my eldest daughter, Lana was into the brand.  What happened next was that the Sourpuss was selling out all the time & not the contemporary stock.  We quickly reviewed what we had and looked directly at the Ballarat market for Custom Culture retailers & just didn’t realise that there was such a high demand for it. So, within 6 months of opening we had changed our target market.

Tell us about your team, we want to know you 😊

Now, 6 years later we have a great business with Lana Lunacy & Miss Lippy Lush, my right & left hands helping me run the business.

The store is named after my daughters, Lana and Rose.

What sort of things can we find at Lana-Rose?

Lana-Rose is a fashion business who strives to give great customer service supplying beautiful quality garments. We search the world looking for new & unique brands that will fit with our niche of Vintage Inspired Clothing & Accessories. One of the biggest challenges we have is ‘quality’.  As we strive to have the beautiful clothing we sell “make its own history” so in 30 years your grandchild can pick it up and wear your ‘Vintage’.

What is the best thing about owning your own store?

Beside dressing wonderful people to make them feel beautiful, one of our greatest achievements has been Hosting the Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival’s Pinup Competition, which we have done since February 2016.  We have grown the Competition every year and for 2019 we have been able to Open up the Competition Nationwide, as we have removed a couple of the previous strict rules on compulsory meet ups, we can now do this due to the wonders of technology.

Lana-Rose also sponsors a lot of pageants & comps, run best dressed comps at car shows & are asked to judge at events. We just love encouraging everyone to embrace the culture, whether it’s the New or the Old.

What is your favourite piece from the Sugar Rush Collection?

I would have to say the Veronica Biker Jacket is my favourite piece, dress it up, dress it down, put your pins on it or just a scarf.  Plus, it comes in colour!

Favourite Candy?

Coming from Ballarat it would have to be the Sovereign Hill Raspberry Drops
